| The school fete was a great success making £1,200 even though rain fell at regular intervals. As the cash raised was to be used on improvements to the swimming pool the wet weather seemed appropriate. |

| Local resident Alex Jennings presented the school with a cup to be awarded annually to the pupils that display the most community spirit. The Cup is to be alled the Vincent Castle Cup in homour of the late Rev castle who did so much for the community in this area during his life. |
