This web site provided basic information on a variety of historical subjects concerning this geographical area. One of the most common enquiries come from people who wish to learn about a specific subject in more detail.
The best method to gain detailed information is to visit the Essex Record Office which holds an incredible amount of information. For many people this is not practical and the next best source is to read a book that covers the subject in more detail that are provided on this site.
Most of the books are still in print in which case local books maybe available from Burnham Museum Tel 01621 782562 or from internet sources such as Amazon.
Essex Libraries are a valuable source of reference books although once again the Internet makes it comparatively easy to trace old/out of print books from suppliers like Biblio or Abe Books or auction sites such as E Bay. The simplest method is to place title and author in an internet search engine and then follow the links to booksellers sites.
To help visitors I have prepared a list which contains some of the books that have been read or bought during the research for this site.
About 120 books have been consulted during the preparation of the sites on Eastern Essex prepared by Marshland.
An up to date bibliography is held on the Essex Family History site
