St Peter's High School

 

St Peters High School is a mixed secondary school with a 6th Form College catering for pupils from 11 to 18 years of age.

878 Pupils were registered with the school in March 2007

The priority admission area for the school is Burnham and surrounding villages.

St Peter's has long played an important part in the life of Burnham and District by activity from it's pupils and community use of school facilities.

Currently the Red Cross Mobility Unit , Burnham Carnival Fancy Dress Shop, Saint FM, Essex Adult Education Community College and Burnham Youth Service are all based within St Peters High School

Following a negative Ofsted inspection in October 2003 the school was denoted as being under special measures.

A continuing trend of improvement has been established at the school which resulted in the school coming out of special measures in November 2005 and marking this improvement by receiving a comparatively good Ofsted report in March 2007 and then achieving record GCSE and A level results in the summer of 2007.

The school has had considerable problems with staff recruitment as a result of the school's relatively isolated location.
